Nice and Eze alternative on F1 days

Shore excursion from port of Cannes, France

  • Duration 7h
  • Activity level low

What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, your guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

We will leave the port of Cannes and head towards Nice via the highway. The city of Nice is a natural amphitheater in the Bay of Angels, Baie des Anges in French.

We will leave the bus in the "coulée verte" area, the green lung of Nice, and continue our tour on foot to discover the heart of the city.

Strolling through the Albert I Gardens. We will arrive at Massena Square, the main square with its red facades and blue windows. Built following the model of Vittorio Veneto Square in Turin, and transformed several times over the years, Massena Square is today the center of social life in Nice, a very lively square that houses the large seven-meter-high statue of Apollo. Additionally, opaque statues of kneeling men representing the seven continents are placed on the sides, giving the square a modern touch.

We will pass in front of the Palace of Justice, built in neoclassical style at the end of the 19th century, the Opera Theater, and the Sainte Réparate Cathedral, patron saint of the city, until we reach the Cours Saleya, a street full of small shops and restaurants where the early flower and vegetable market takes place. Entrance to the market is free, and we can stroll among the Provençal stalls, typical specialties, but above all, we can admire different types of plants and flowers. The market is closed on Mondays.

We will return to the bus parking through the lively typical streets of the old town and, via a scenic road that will offer us a beautiful view of the Bay of Angels and the wonderful Bay of Villefranche, we will arrive at the village of Eze, a wonderful medieval village overlooking the sea and the coast.

A fortified double gate from the 14th century allows us to enter the historic center of Eze, and from this moment we are catapulted back in time: we will let ourselves be carried away strolling through its narrow cobbled streets and picturesque alleys, which house charming bars, beautiful art galleries, and old noble houses. Here we can see the ruins of a medieval castle destroyed in an attack by the troops of Louis XIV, and from here we will enjoy spectacular views of the sea and the mountains. Outside the walls, we will visit the historic French perfume factory Fragonard, to discover the secrets of producing the best perfumes, soaps, and natural cosmetics of the region.

We will have free time before returning to the port of Cannes to embark.
