What you'll do
Upon your cruise arrival, our guide will welcome you at the port, identified by the Shore2Shore sign, to begin a fascinating day in the cradle of the Renaissance.
Our tour starts with a pleasant walk along the banks of the Arno River, enjoying views of the National Library, a majestic Liberty-style palace, the Florentine hills, the palaces of the Oltrarno, and the charming Bardini Garden.
From there, we will stop in front of the Galleria degli Uffizi, the oldest museum in the world, home to masterpieces by Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Caravaggio. Very close by, we will find the iconic Old Bridge, the oldest in the city and the only one that has remained intact since the 14th century, filled with small artisan goldsmith and jewelry shops.
The walk will take us to the Straw Market, where you can admire the famous bronze statue of the “little pig”, a symbol of good luck for travelers.
We will continue towards the Piazza della Repubblica and the impressive Piazza del Duomo, where we will admire the majesty of the medieval Baptistery, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and its imposing Brunelleschi dome, a masterpiece that inspired the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
From here, we will walk along the historic Via dei Calzaiuoli until we reach Orsanmichele, a unique building that combines a church, an old granary, and a civil monument, reflecting commercial Florence and the florin gold coin, the medieval “dollar.”
Our next stop will be the emblematic Piazza della Signoria, a true open-air museum, dominated by the Palazzo Vecchio and decorated with statues that tell the story of Florence and Europe, from medieval struggles to the splendor of the Medici and the rebirth of Italy.
We will cross the Piazza San Firenze to admire the Palazzo del Bargello, former seat of the medieval police and now the National Sculpture Museum. Then, we will proceed through the historic Borgo dei Greci to the majestic Piazza Santa Croce, where the tombs of illustrious figures such as Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo, and Rossini are found, surrounded by artistic treasures by Giotto, Donatello, and Brunelleschi.
After a well-deserved break with free time, we will take our bus back, enjoying an unparalleled panoramic view to bid farewell to this unforgettable city.
We will return to the port to say goodbye, certain that we have experienced a unique adventure in magical Florence.
We look forward to seeing you soon on a new adventure with Shore2Shore!
