What you'll do
Explore the port and cultural essence of Trieste, a gem of northeastern Italy that perfectly blends history, architecture, and tradition.
Upon your cruise arrival, our guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified by the Shore2Shore sign. We will begin this captivating walking tour through the city that inspired writers such as Stendhal, Italo Svevo, and James Joyce.
Our first stop will be the exterior visit of the Castle and the Cathedral of San Giusto, located on the historic Colle San Giusto, where you will enjoy a unique panoramic view of the city and its port.
We will continue towards the lively Borgo Teresiano district, created by Emperor Charles V of Austria, and stroll along the picturesque Canal Grande, an ideal spot to capture the local atmosphere.
Along the way, we will admire the Roman Theatre (exterior visit), a legacy from the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, before reaching the Stock Exchange Square, surrounded by elegant Liberty-style buildings, a symbol of the city’s commercial activity.
A stop at the elegant Verdi Square is a must, home to the majestic Giuseppe Verdi Lyric Theatre, whose classical architecture will leave you speechless.
Our route will take us to the impressive Piazza Unità d’Italia, Trieste’s main square, famous for its Austro-Hungarian architecture and its majestic buildings facing the sea.
During the walk, we will also admire the Orthodox churches: San Nicolo dei Greci and San Spiridione (exterior visits), symbols of the city’s cultural diversity.
We will conclude the visit with free time for you to enjoy Trieste at your own pace before returning to the ship with our guide.
