Explore Magnificent Petra
Shore excursion from port of Aqaba, Jordan
- Duration 9h
- Activity level medium
What you'll do
You will be picked up by our guide at the port of Aqaba, identified with a SHORE2SHORE sign. We will enjoy a pleasant journey of about 2 hours through the beautiful Jordanian desert, until the moment we reach Petra.
North of Aqaba, in the middle of the Jordanian desert, we will find one of the most spectacular places in the world: the city of Petra.
This famous pink city, which takes its color from the rock on which it was carved by the ancient Nabatean Arabs (312 BC Approx.), has been considered one of the most precious cultural legacies of humanity, declared a World Heritage Site in 1985.
We will enjoy a pleasant journey of about 2 hours through the beautiful Jordanian desert until we reach Petra.
We will enter the archaeological site and arrive at the Siq, a narrow canyon that makes its way between fantastic rock walls and finishes illuminated by the desert sun before the majestic pink city carved out of the stone.
It is incredible to imagine that this huge city, which was the ancient capital of the Nabataean Arabs and even had a drinking water system, was hidden for more than a thousand years until it was rediscovered by a Swiss explorer in 1812.
Our guided tour through this extraordinarily well-preserved gem also includes a visit to the Nabataean theater, temples and royal tombs including free time to enjoy and fill our spirit with such beauty.
