  • Duration 8h
  • Activity level low

What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, our guide will be waiting for you, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

We have a one-hour trip to Scotland's most emblematic lake, Loch Ness, where we will have enough time to take photos.

This extensive and deep freshwater lake located in the Scottish Highlands stretches about 37 km and its surface is about 16 m above sea level. Loch Ness is famous for being the supposed home of the creature known as Nessie, a name assigned around 1940, said to be a large unknown animal similar to a plesiosaur inhabiting these waters. Although its description varies according to sources, the popular interest and belief in the existence of the animal have made the lake known worldwide.

We continue our tour heading to Inverness, the most important city in the area and the capital of the Highlands. The city of Inverness is located at the mouth of the River Ness on the Moray Firth. Near it took place the famous Battle of Culloden at the end of the 18th century, the last battle fought on British soil to date, which meant the definitive defeat for the Jacobite cause, which defended the restoration of the House of Stuart to the British throne, from which it never recovered.

In Inverness we will have free time to have lunch, shop, take photos of its castle, or simply enjoy a walk along the riverbank. We can visit on our own the old town where the Inverness Cathedral from the 19th century is located, the Old High Church, the Victorian Market indoors where they sell food, clothing, and crafts, or the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery where local and Highland history is explored.

In the afternoon we arrive at one of the most beautiful castles in Scotland, Cawdor Castle, dating from the 14th century, built as a private fortress by the barons of Cawdor. It stands out as a castle full of intrigue and history. We cannot miss this medieval marvel; we will be able to tour its wonderful gardens, a truly extraordinary place.

Return to the port of Invergordon for farewell.
