Leeds Castle and Canterbury Cathedral

Shore excursion from port of Dover, United Kingdom

  • Duration 11h
  • Activity level low

What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, our guide will be waiting for you at the Dover port, identified by the Shore2Shore sign.

Our first stop will be the Leeds Castle, which we will reach after approximately 40 minutes of travel. Leeds Castle was described by the noble Conway as "the most charming in the world" and is located in the middle of a natural lake, surrounded by more than 200 hectares of parks and gardens. We will arrive there before the gates open to the public, so we can experience its magic in an atmosphere still full of calm and tranquility. We will have time to explore the castle grounds, where we will find the Lady Baillie Garden overlooking the lake, an aviary, and a maze.

Traveling through Kent County, known as the Garden of England, we will head to Canterbury Cathedral. This magnificent cathedral is the most important in the world of the Anglican religion. The central bell of the bell tower, called 'Harry,' dates back to 1498, and the crypt is from the 11th century. It is here where the guide will tell us the story of the terrible murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket in the year 1170.

We will have free time to stroll through the narrow streets of Canterbury and have lunch (lunch on your own).

At the end of the excursion, we will return to Dover port for the farewell.
